Ajahn Kevali at Bodh Gaya Recitation & Jethian Walk


A special opportunity to join Ajahn Kevali and the Saṅgha for an extended pilgrimage in Bodh Gaya and Rajgir from 5–14 December 2026. Ajahn Kevali will participate in the International Tipiṭaka Chanting Ceremony (ITCC) at Bodh Gaya, including his Dhamma talk on 9 December, followed by a pilgrimage through Rajgir and Nālandā, and the 14 km Jethian Valley Walk from Supatiṭṭha Cetiya to Veluvana on 13 December.

Join Independently or Extend the Ajahn Amaro Pilgrimage

This programme may be joined independently or as an extension of the Ajahn Amaro pilgrimage (1–4 December 2026). The same registration form is used for both programmes.

 

Itinerary for Pilgrimage under Ajahn kevali’s guidance

5–14 December 2026 |  Bodh Gaya | Rajgir | Nalanda | Jethian walk 

4 December — Arrival in Gaya

  •   Evening — Ajahn Kevali arrives in Gaya and checks in at the hotel.
  • Naam Paana —  followed by  Informal interaction with Ajahn Kevali, Saṅgha and lay participants.
  •  Late Evening — Visit to Mahabodhi Temple / Bodhi Tree, with Ajahn Kevali.

 

5 December — Mahabodhi Temple → Meditation & Dhamma → Gaya

Early morning

  • 5:00–6:30 am — Morning meditation at Mahabodhi Temple.
  • 6:30–7:30 am — Return to hotel and breakfast.
  • 8:30–10:30 am — Join the ITCC morning recitation at the Bodhi Tree.
  • 11:00 am–1:00 pm — Lunch at hotel and rest.
  • 1:00–5:00 pm — Practice at Meditation Park at Mahabodhi Temple /  Instructions  / Discussion and  meditation/practice with Ajahn Kevali.
  • Evening — Naam Paana and rest.

 

6 December — Ajjhapalanikrodha and Muccalinda sites-south of Bodhgaya —  Sujātā  — Nerañjarā —  Gayāśīrṣa

Early morning

  • 5:00–6:30 am — Morning meditation at Mahabodhi Temple.
  • 6:30–7:30 am — Return to hotel and breakfast.
  • Morning —  Visit Ajjhapālanikrodha and Muccalinda sites, south of Bodh Gaya.
  • 11:00 am–12:00 noon — Lunch at hotel and rest.
  • Around 12:00 noon — Depart for  Gayāśīrṣa.
  • Afternoon — Visit Gayāśīrṣa,
  • Evening — Return to hotel.

7  December — Mahabodhi Temple —  Gurpa Hills — Gaya

Early morning

  • 5:00–6:30 am — Morning meditation at Mahabodhi Temple.
  • 6:30–7:30 am — Return to hotel and breakfast.
  • 8:00 am — Depart for Gurpa hills with a packed lunch
  • 10:00–10:30 am — Arrival and lunch at the base area / surrounding area.
  • After the meal —  Ascend the 1,680 steps to Mahākassapa’s cave site.
  • Afternoon — Time for meditation/practice at the hilltop.
  • Later afternoon — Descend and return to Gaya.
  • Evening — Return to hotel and rest.

8 December — Bodh Gaya: Buddhist Monasteries & Archaeological Museum

Early morning

  • 5:00–6:30 am — Morning meditation at Mahabodhi Temple.
  • 6:30–7:30 am — Return to hotel and breakfast.
  • 8:00–10:30 am — Visit selected Buddhist monasteries, including the Royal Thai Monastery, and the Archaeological Museum.
  • 11:00 am–1:00 pm — Lunch at hotel and rest.
  • 1:00–5:00 pm — Free time for participants to explore Bodh Gaya on their own, visit local Buddhist sites/monasteries, spend time at Mahabodhi Temple, or meditate/practise.
  • Evening — Naam Paana and rest.

 

9 December – ITCC Programme

  • Full day — Participation in the International Tipiṭaka Chanting Ceremony (ITCC) programme at Bodh Gaya, including Ajahn Kevali’s talk.

 

10 December — Bodh Gaya → Kurkihar → Rajgir

  

  • 8:00 am — Check out from Bodh Gaya and depart for Rajgir.
  • 8:45–9:30 am — Visit Kurkihar Mound.
  • Around 10:15 am — Arrive at Rajgir hotel.
  • 10:15–11:00 am — Freshen up / settle in and arrange the monastic meal.
  • 11:00 am–1:00 pm — Lunch and rest at the hotel.
  • Afternoon
  • 1:00 pm onwards
  • Visit Veluvana (Bamboo Grove), Jīvaka’s Mango Grove (Jīvakamrāvana), & Bimbisāra’s Jail and other sites in Rajgir
  • Return to the hotel and rest.
  • Naam Paana / evening rest.

 

11 December — Rajgir Buddhist Sites

  • After breakfast — Depart with packed lunch.
  • Take the Ropeway to Vishwa Shanti Stupa (Peace Pagoda) on Ratnagiri Hill. The ropeway does indeed reach the Peace Pagoda on Ratnagiri Hill.
  • (Official Ropeway ticketing hours: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM).
  • Meditation and  Dhamma Talk/ recitation – As advised by Ajahn
  •  lunch.
  • Descend from Ratnagiri Hill, visiting:
    • Sāriputta Cave / Siri Samādhi Cave
    • Ānanda Cave
    • Gṛdhrakūṭa (Vulture’s Peak)
  • Return to hotel.
  • Naam Paana and rest.

 

12 December —  Nalanda Buddhist Heritage

  • Morning meditation and breakfast at the hotel.
  • Visit Nalanda University / Nalanda Mahāvihāra Ruins.
  • Visit Sāriputta Stupa.
  • Visit the site associated with Mahā Moggallāna.
  • Visit the Black Buddha.
  • Visit Hiuen Tsang Memorial Hall.
  • Return to the hotel.
  • Lunch and rest.
  • Afternoon — Free time to rest and prepare for the 14 km Jethian Valley Walk on 13 December.
  • Evening — Naam Paana and rest.

 

13 December — Jethian Valley Walk — Gaya

  • Morning — Depart from Rajgir for Supatiṭṭha Cetiya, Jethian, the starting point of the Jethian Valley Walk.
  • Sanghadāna / meal offering to the Saṅgha at Jethian before the walk.
  • Jethian Valley Walk — 14 km from Supatiṭṭha Cetiya (Jethian) to Veluvana, Rajgir.
  • After completing the walk, depart Rajgir for Gaya.
  • Arrive in Gaya and check in / rest.

 

14 Dec —  Departure  from  Gaya

  • 5:00–6:30 am — Morning meditation at Mahabodhi Temple. 
  • 6:30–7:30 am — Return to hotel and breakfast. 
  • Informal interaction with Ajahn and early meal. 
  • 10.30 am – departure for Gaya airport 
  • 1:15 pm – GAYA-BKK flight (6E1083)

important Information

Joining the pilgrimage

  • Participants may join the Ajahn Kevali pilgrimage independently from 5 December in Gaya / Bodh Gaya.
  • Those completing the Ajahn Amaro pilgrimage (1–4 December) may continue directly into the extended pilgrimage with Ajahn Kevali from 5 December.
  • Participants joining the pilgrimage at a later stage may do so at a suitable point, subject to prior coordination with the organisers.

 


Cost & Arrangements

  •  The pilgrimage is completely self-financed by the participants. The organisers will assist with coordinating accommodation, local pilgrimage travel, meals and other necessary arrangements during the pilgrimage.
  •  The shared cost will depend on the final number of participants
  • The cost will be equally divided among the participants
  •  Participants will need to pay on registration, with an advance payment required to confirm participation.
  •  Flight tickets/ Train tickets to and from the pilgrimage are to be booked by individual participants 
  •  Those who wish to contribute towards the accommodation, food, pilgrimage travel and other related expenses of the participating monastics are welcome to do so. The amount will be shared among those participants who wish to contribute.
  •  Personal expenses such as dinner, water, laundry and other incidental expenses are not included.
  •  Entry fees, if any, will be charged on actuals.
