Dāna for monastery development

As we approach the monastery’s second Kathina, we invite our faithful supporters to share in the merit of this auspicious occasion through dāna—supporting the Kathina ceremony and contributing towards the continued development of Aranya Sangharama, a place dedicated to the practice and preservation of the Dhamma. The following projects are currently planned and open for contributions:

(1) Contribution towards Kathina ceremony — Rs. 9,00,000

The monastery’s second Kathina is an opportunity for the wider community to come together in generosity and offer support to the Sangha. Contributions towards the Kathina will help meet the practical needs of the ceremony, including catering, tents and arrangements for devotees, electricity, seating and other essential facilities.

Estimated requirement: Rs. 9,00,000

(2) Expansion of Kalyanmitra Bhawan — Rs. 20,00,000

As part of the monastery’s master plan, Kalyanmitra Bhawan will be expanded with four rooms on the first floor, providing accommodation for long-term guests, stewards and elderly guests. Each room will be approximately 350 sq. ft., with an attached toilet and small pantry.

Estimated requirement:

  • Civil construction 350  sq ft X Rs.1350 / sq ft = Rs. 472,500
  • Electricity, painting, carpentry etc, plumbing = Rs. 125,000
  • Total (rounded off) Rs. 500,000 per room X 4 rooms = Rs. 20,00,000

(3) Workshop, Tool Shed & Boundary Wall — Rs. 6,00,000

A covered workshop and storage area is proposed alongside Kalyanmitra Bhawan to support the monastery’s growing operational needs. It will provide space for tools, machinery, construction and planting materials, as well as sheltered areas for maintenance work. The adjoining boundary wall will also be extended to complete and secure the space.

Estimated requirement:

  • Outer shell – Rs. 300,000
  • Floor: Rs. 60,000
  • Enclosed space for storing tools, machines etc = Rs. 25,000
  • Gutter at one end of the shed : Rs. 10,000
  • Additional boundary wall at the back of the shed (30 ft) with pillars and beams as a protection against flooding : Rs. 200,000
  • Total (rounded off) : Rs. 600,000

(4) Motorable Path to Kalyanmitra Bhawan — Rs. 15,00,000

Kalyanmitra Bhawan, the operational centre of the monastery, currently has a dirt-track approach that becomes difficult to navigate during the monsoon. An all-weather motorable path from Gate 2 to Kalyanmitra Bhawan is therefore proposed to provide reliable year-round access.

Estimated requirement: Rs. 15,00,000
