Kuti Dāna: An opportunity to deepen Dāna Pāramī
Dear Upasakas and Upasikas,
Following the first anniversary of Aranya Sangharama monastery, which was blessed by respected Luang Por Liem, we are now ready to embark upon the next phase of the development of the monastery.
Construction of Monastic Kutis and associated structures
In order to free up the Kalyanmitra Bhawan to accommodate more lay guests and to also enable the monks to live more secluded lives, it is proposed to construct 3 Kutis initially. These have been designed by a renowned Chandigarh based architect firm that has offered its services as Dana. The actual construction is now to be done.
Access to the Kutis requires paths that will partially cater to vehicles and subsequently pedestrians. Principally, these are needed for the monsoon months. Similarly, a simple pedestrian bridge is also needed to get across the stream that bisects the monastery land.
As part of this exercise, a part of the boundary wall will also be repaired – a project that has been pending for a long time and that is needed to secure the monastery grounds.
The costs of each of these components are mentioned below :
- Kutis @Rs.700,000 per Kuti X 3 = Rs. 21,00,000
- Paths (vehicular + pedestrian) to access the Kutis = Rs. 23,00,000
- Pedestrian bridge = Rs. 13,00,000
- Boundary wall repair = Rs. 600,000
Total = Rs. 63,00,000
The Trust has a policy to allocate 20% of donations of all projects to loan repayment for the purchase of the monastery land and the construction of Kalyanmitra Bhawan; and 10% to general day to day running expenses of the monastery. For details click here https://aranyavihara.in/donations/.
Accordingly, the total expenditure on these monastery development projects would be: Rs. 63,00,000 + 30 % (of Rs. 63,00,000)= Rs. 82,00,000
Generous donors have already contributed INR 7.5 lakhs, and a shortfall of INR 74.5 lakhs remains.
Joining Hands in Generosity
We invite those of you that feel the inspiration to contribute to the ongoing development of this island of Dhamma, that has been given the name Aranya Sangharama by Luang Por Liem. In the first year of its existence, many hundreds have benefitted by its existence.

This is a wonderful opportunity to deepen one’s dāna pāramī and to support access to the Buddha’s teachings.
May this act of generosity be a cause for the liberation of many. May the monastery continue to be a field of merit (punya) as well as a field of cultivating wisdom (panya).
