Vaishakh Purnima Weekend at Sangharama
Vaishakh Purnima (also called Buddha Purnima) is the most sacred day in Buddhism because it commemorates three pivotal events in the life of Gautama Buddha—all believed to have occurred on the same full moon day of the Vaishakh month.
- Birth (Lumbini): The Buddha was born as Prince Siddhartha in Lumbini. This marks the arrival of a being destined to discover the path to liberation.
- Enlightenment (Bodh Gaya): He attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, realizing the nature of suffering and the path to end it. This moment is central to all Buddhist teachings.
- Parinirvana (Kushinagar): The Buddha passed away in Kushinagar, attaining final liberation from the cycle of rebirth.
